He had found his mortal kin. He hadn't even known he might have mortal kin, but when Fawn had wandered into the building with the enticing music and cheap chicken wings, he had been struck by the sight of mortals who felt like his own. They wore little clothing and spun elegantly on tall polls, coaxing coin from the fools who got too near.

Kin. They were kin.

He sat and ate wings as he watched them work, until one finally came over to say hello. She was very tall and mostly muscle, but soft in places men often liked. Her eyes were hazel and her smile sweet, and she smiled as she sat across from him.

"You are really here for the food, huh?" she smiled. "You know the wings across the street are better, sweetheart."

"I came for food, I stayed to watch the sirens work. You are all talented, many will go home broke tonight," Fawn assured her, prompting her to laugh again.

"I like you," she grinned.

"Thank you," Fawn smiled. "I like how you all dance. I would like to learn."

The woman laughed again, then nodded, tossing her ginger hair back behind her shoulders. "Well, we don't have boys in dancing here, I'm afraid, but I do know someone who'd looking for guys. He'd love you. Catch is, he'd want you to be good on a pole before he took you on. You'd have to find lessons... Or do what I did. Get a pole and watch a lot of videos."

They talked for a while, and when Fawn left, he felt renewed. Inspired. He had found his new art.

Walking into the flat, he dropped his coat and announced, "I require a pole for dancing, and access to a tube for mortal videos. A you-tube, they call it."

John gulped hard.

"Oh," he said quietly, finally getting the point.

"I can fix damage with magic, should I cause it," he promised. "But I still require a pole."

[petty_dabbler]

"Then I reckon we're getting a pole," he agreed, still in a bit of shock. HIs mind conjured images of Fawn, dancing and twirling around the pole and heat rushed to his crotch.

"Where do we get one?" The fae asked excitedly.

[petty_dabbler]

"I really don't know," he said, turning to his phone to look it up.

"Lots of places, it looks like," he said, showing Fawn the screen.

[fawnthefae]

"I am very excited. I wish to dance all the time," the fae beamed, bouncing just a bit on his heels.

[petty_dabbler]

John tapped around, decided one he was sure he could install, and ordered it.

"It'll be here in a couple days," he smiled. Fawn seemed so happy, and it really was such a small thing.

"That's so long," the fae sighed. "Will you entertain me while we wait?"

[petty_dabbler]

"Yeah, of course. Let me tidy all this up," he said as he gathered his mess into a neat pile. "Did you, ah, go into a strip club? Talk to a dancer or summat?"

[fawnthefae]

"Yes. What have you been doing? What are these papers?" he asked- Sort of wishing he could read them.

[petty_dabbler]

"It's a puzzle, and it doesn't make any sense. But I'm sure it will."

Hopefully before it was too late.

John slid a book closer and tucked a paper into the page with a woodcut illustration of a looming, wicked looking demon, and closed it.

"We might travel soon. Would you like to?"

"Yes, very much so I would," Fawn nodded eagerly. "Where will we wander to?"

"It's a pace called Turkey," he said. "It'll be a little dangerous. And hot. And maybe frightening."

He was really selling this, he thought.

"It's nothing like London," he added, trying to make it sound a bit interesting.

"I don't wish to be hurt," Fawn said, looking a little unsure.

[petty_dabbler]

"It's just as likely that it'll be a dusty, boring walk," he said. "I'm sorry I don't know anything more, yet."

[fawnthefae]

Fawn thought for a moment, then wet his lips.

"Would my company bring you some joy?" He asked.

[petty_dabbler]

"Yes," he nodded. "It'd be miserable without you."

[fawnthefae]

"Then I will come," Fawn nodded. "It would be nice to join you."

[petty_dabbler]

John thought a moment, rubbing his lips as he did.

"So, ah...how well can you control your magic? And what can you do?" John asked, wondering if it might go badly if they did have to face something.

[fawnthefae]

"I am a very powerful fae," Fawn replied, not bragging, just being honest. He was a royal of mixed blood, his magic was strong, and he'd been using it all his life.

[petty_dabbler]

"Think you could take on a demon?" John asked quietly, finally clearly admitting what he did.

[fawnthefae]

"I have never tried," Fawn replied. "They do not come to the fae realms."

[petty_dabbler]

"No, I doubt they would," John nodded. "If I find what I'm looking for...it's a demon."

[fawnthefae]

Fawn nodded in understanding.

"I will help however I can," he promised.

[petty_dabbler]

"Then I'll book the flight as soon as the stars align," he said.
