Apparently the fish man only brought fish, and the pizza man only pizza. If they wanted a fan they had to go to Asda. Fawn didn't know what an Asda was, but the building was big and people were leaving with carts full of stuff. Exciting!

Inside they were greeted by a large display of plush bears, and fawn gasped.

"Friends. We should free them."

"No. Mortals consume flesh, if I am to stay among them, I must at least try it," Fawn decided.

"You are under no obligation to enjoy it," John said, pointing his fork at him. He went back to stirring the potatoes.

"There's been times I've gone hungry, so I'll eat anything available. I'm well aware most people are more choosy than I am."

"It's just frowned upon to feast on those we share our homes with, and the homes of the fae are often the woods themselves. Chickens, pigs, deer... I have shared resting places with them all," Fawn explained.

"We do the same, but different. We don't eat dogs or cats or goldfish or lizards. But we domesticated the cows and pigs and chicken for food," John said. "I mean, some people eat all vegan diets. Just nuts and plants and such..."

He'd never really given much thought to why he ate what he ate, but he could understand if Fawn viewed farm animals the same way he pictured a pet.

"I am named for the creatures I laid with the most as a child. I would often curl up beside deer and their fawns and sleep with them. ...At least I was told as much," Fawn explained.

"That," he said, pointing at Fawn with the fork again, "Is some Disney princess shit. That settles it. Tonight I'm showing you Bambi."

"What is a Bambi?" Fawn asked curiously.

"Ir's a movie. A cartoon. About a fawn who is the prince of the forest," John smiled. "And his rabbit and skunk friends."

Fawn looked very interested in that,

"I will watch this with you."

"Alright. Let me finish up dinner."

He poked a potato and found it done.

"Just a few more minutes. Let me drain these and mash them. We can eat on the sofa. Why don't you get plates and drinks."

Fawn nodded, getting out the plates he'd just put away and retrieving them a drink each from the ice box.

"Today was nice," the fae noted. "I enjoyed our time outside together."

"It was a good day," John agreed with a smile.

He got the dinner plated and brought it to Fawn to settle on the sofa.

"Want to watch while we eat/" he asked. "Or after?"

"We can dine and watch," Fawn insisted.

John settled in with his plate and his beer, then took the remote to call it up.

"This is a classic," he smiled.

Fawn settled in beside him, eating his potatoes and trying the meat.

All was good- Until it wasn't.

"Where is his mother?" Fawn asked.

"Oh, she's, uh..." he said, not thinking quickly enough to grab the remote to skip.

A gunshot rang out.

And the little deer found his mother.

Fawn looked shocked, traumatized even.

"I do not like this film. I want to watch the cake show please," he said finally.

"It gets better. Sweet. He ice skates..." he attempted, but put his plate down to reach for the remote.

Fawn still looked devastated, and he put his own plate aside, no longer hungry- Least of all for flesh.

"Oh, love," John said softly. "I'm sorry. I forgot about that bit. The rest of it is really sweet," he promised, then clicked to Fawn favourite cake show.
