Fin had told him if he came and got his physical, he could see rabbits. That Hex knew where the rabbits were and would take him to them, if he let them look at him and take some blood.

Fawn had been reluctant, but the promise of rabbits was enough to send the other twin off to medical

Stepping inside, he peeked around.

"I'm here to offer blood for rabbits," he announced.

"Ohh, I see," Hex nodded. "He told me that, sort of. He says he's free to choose, though, right/"

"Maybe, but he won't," Fawn shrugged.

[hex_schofield]

"He won't? What, he just takes anyone who wants to go?" he asked, finding that a bit concerning. He wasn't sure that was safe...

"No, the puck finds ones with money, and then he sends them to Fin. Not just anyone, I think. ...I don't know. I never thought to ask," Fawn admitted, wondering if that was wrong of him. He just always assumed Fin knew what he was doing.

"...He says we need credits?"

Hex was quiet for a long moment, then before he could say anything that he'd regret, he stopped at a door painted with a sun and rainbow.

"Here are the kits," he said and walked in. There were children playing and learning letters and colours and making craft projects.

"Hex, good to see you," Jin said, taking his hands and bringing them to her lilac forehead in greeting. He returned the gesture.

"I came to check on the kits. And I brough Fawn as my assistant," Hex said, then took Fawn to the box with a warming lamp above it. Inside was a mama bunny and nuzzled into her belly were tiny little kits. Hex reached in and picked one up to offer it to Fawn.

"Here."

Fawn had been looking around the room, a bit envious of the children and the pleasant environment, but at the offer of the tiny animal Hex had his full attention again.

Gingerly he took the animal, holding it with care.

"It's so very small," he said after a moment, his words soft. "And the world is so big. ...And it knows nothing but the warmth of its mum and the taste of milk."

He looked a bit upset, and he carefully stroked the animal's head before carefully placing it back beside its mother.

"They're safe and well cared for. Having them in here helps teach the kids about care and responsibility," Hex said, gently reaching to lay his hand on Fawn's shoulder. "They'll be warm and safe, always."

"You swear it?" Fawn asked.

[hex_schofield]

"I swear, Fawn. Jin will never let anything bad happen to them. And when they get big enough to leave their mum, they'll go to other classrooms so those kids can learn care, too," he smiled.

"Okay," Fawn said softly.

[hex_schofield]

"You can sit and hold them all you like if you're gentle and quiet. There's no rush," Hex assured him.

"No, they look peaceful, don't you think? I won't be selfish and disturb them," Fawn decided.

"They do look comfortable," Hex nodded. "Would you like some fresh fruit now? Real, grown fruit, not replicated."

[fawnthefae]

"Please," Fawn nodded. "I miss real fruit."

[hex_schofield]

Hex nodded. He gave the teacher a wave and led Fawn out to the lift.

"It's really gone wild, but in the best way," he promised.

"I like wild," Fawn replied. "Wild is how we should all be."

Hex called the floor and stood, patiently waiting. The doors opened to a new hall and Hex led him to another set of doors. The parted and the pair was greeted with a humid, warm room absolutely bursting with plants. Those that weren't in bloom were all fruiting.

A woman peeked from behind a banana plant. Her hair was bright red and her skin a verdant green.

"Stay on the paths," she cautioned, then ducked back behind the plant nervously.

"That flower was talking to us," Fawn whispered. "Should we go say hello?"

"You can try, but everyone says she's really shy," Hex said, giving her a nudge toward her.

Fawn was not shy and walked right over.

"Hello. I am Fawn," he said, looking unsure and then offering his hand like humans did.

Hex kept close, but back just a bit.

She looked at Fawn, looked at his hand, then reached for it to touch lightly.

"I'm...Ivy," she said quietly. And then she gripped him. "It's not witchcraft, I promise. I just talk to them."

"I don't know what that is," Fawn replied simply, and shamelessly. "You talk to plants though? Me too. ...Or I did, back home. ...You make them grow?" he asked curiously.

"I do," she nodded. "I can make them do anything. But mostly I just make them grow and produce enough to feed people."

She reached over and touched a leaf, and all up the vine, flowers burst into bloom, withered, fell, and fruit began to swell and ripen before him.

Fawn looked impressed, glancing back at Hex and then stepping closer to her and speaking softly in hopes the other man wouldn't hear.

"I have seeds from my home I wish to grow, but have no place to plant them. I'm told I shouldn't have them, but... Our kind use them in traditional drinks to celebrate and to heal our hearts if they are ever broken. Some are like mushrooms, some are like fruits..."

[hex_schofield]

"If you bring them to me, I can grow them," she said softly. "And you can tend them the way they need. I'd like to see new plants."

She smiled, but ducked her chin and looked away shyly.
